Love of the evening: Wedding Dresses...Have you found yours??

Friday, January 21, 2011

Well lovelies, I am cashing in a little early today.I need to spend a little time without my computer in my face.  I think we all need a little down time from our gadgets every now in then.  Hope you guys have a fabulous weekend and I will see ya Monday! Until then, here is my LOVE of the evening. Ta Ta!

Since, I have incorporated wedding ideas into my blog over the past week, I was inspired to look at wedding dresses just for fun.  I have already found my dress for my wedding, but gosh, if I could I would pick a different dress everyday.  There are too many beautiful dresses to choose just ONE!  I have searched high and low in the past year looking at wedding dresses from London, New York, Dallas and Houston and have yet to find another designer who surpasses Valentino. He gets the award in my book, yet again. As I have posted before, Valentino can do no wrong and his wedding couture supports every bit of my theory.

Gift of the day: Wedding favors... the tough stuff.

For those of you who are getting married, I understand the planning can be super frustrating, and the tiny details are the ones that are making you want to pull your hair out. I have been planning a destination wedding for myself and one of those details has been welcome gifts, and favors for my guests.  I thought I would pass along a few of my finds, with the intent of relieving some of your stress.

These welcome totes can be customized to fit your individual style for your wedding or you can choose among their pre-existing themes.  They even come with a rescue me kit for any minor emergencies your guest might encounter during their journey through your wedding. You can find all of these gifts at http://www.navyandlavender.com/

If the totes are a bit more than you were looking for they also do a smaller version in these cute gable boxes.

Looking for even smaller of a gift?  Navy and Lavender also carry these customizable vintage city candles! I love these, and I checked to see if they have Houston and sure enough they do!

Cool Tidbit:  While checking out the wedding favors, I found this spa gift tower they will customize for any party or shower.  Not only are they really pretty for a table centerpiece but they come with spa goodies ready to be taken by your guest at the end of the party. Too cute!

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Mind Travel: Southern Lovin

Thursday, January 20, 2011

While mind traveling this afternoon, I was thinking of a place I could eat well, cozy up next to a fire, and take in a little southern hospitality.  I first thought of Charleston, South Carolina, but I have been there a few times so I picked a spot I have not yet traveled...Tennessee.   I know it doesn't sound too exotic or zany  but I found a spectacular spot where I would like to kick off my shoes and stay while. That place is Blackberry Farm. Blackberry Farm offers culinary classes, horseback riding, fishing, organic gardens, and much more. The food is promised to be superb, the scenery delicious, and the ambiance, warm.
Check it out.

Cool Tidbit: I looked into doing a wedding there for a friend of mine, and they do it all right there. What a grat place for a wedding.   .

Gift of the day: Going to the Chapel!

Spring is nearly here and what does that mean?? WEDDING SEASON!!! With one bridal shower after the other you will be needing ideas on what to get that special lady. I thought of a few ideas for bridal gifts, that weren't so predictable.  I feel everytime I go to a shower, I see predictable gifts and for some reason that bothers me.  Sure, a bride still needs tradition but it doesn't hurt to add a little "trend" to the tradition.  Here are a few of my fave bridal picks.  Let me know your opinion!

Perfume spray and bath and shower gel, marketed perfectly for a bride by Philosophy.  How cute is that?

These dishtowels are possibly my favorite, I bought these for a girlfriend of mine and they are adorable!   They are called the "Storybook Romance" dishtowels and on each towel it delightfully reads something different such as "They Fell in Love", "They Got Married", and "They Lived Happily Ever After".  ADORABLE. END OF STORY.

Lila Frances, makes these wonderful personalized hangers that are perfect for someone's big day.  Lila has an Etsy shop and she is so popular her hangers have been sold out until February 1st.  So if you want a hanger I would get on the list.  These look great in wedding pictures!  http://www.etsy.com/shop/lilafrances

These wedding totes and tees are a great idea to give your actual gift in.  The totes would be perfect for the bride to carry her essentials in on her big day, and the tees and tanks would be a ideal for her pre-wedding festivities.  You can find these customizable totes and tees on http://www.weddingchicks.com/shop/

Yummm! I love these last picks by Paloma's Nest, they make my heart sing.  I can just picture these beautifully crafted, porcelain keepsakes in my wedding pictures.  You can choose the wording on anyone of their designs from the bouquet ornament to the ring barer bowel.  Cool Tidbit: After the wedding, keep the ring barer bowel on your bathroom counter for a beautiful decoration/ring holder...or add your bouquet ornament to your Christmas tree each year.=)

Mind Travel: There once was a man from Nantucket.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

While I was mind traveling this morning, I thought of the place I would have liked to have been at that moment.  I picked Nantucket, Massachusetts.  A place I have yet to see but I hear it is quite promising.  Here are two recommended accommodations.

White Elephant Hotel

If you are looking for a large, and plush resort White Elephant would be the place for you.  In true Nantucket style, many of the rooms have stunning scenic views of the sailboats passing and they also offer private cottages surrounded by plush gardens for families who travel together.  Voted one of the world's best hotels for 2009/2010.

If you aren't into the large resort scene, the Vanessa Noel Hotel just might suit your fancy.

Too small to bring your entire family and not suitable for children, yet incredibly quaint and  indulgent.  There are only 8 rooms in this cozy little nook. Perhaps, a nice place to get away with the one you love, or a relaxing get a way with a girlfriend or two. Located in the heart of downtown Nantucket, with easy access to the beach and local shops make this a great location.
Cool Tidbit:  Vanessa Noel Hotel is the first boutique hotel to open in Nantucket.
